ISRO Young Scientist Program 2022: YUVIKA 2022 Registration

ISRO Young Scientist Program 2022 @ isro.gov.in: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) organizes a special program for school children named Yuvika, “Young Scientist Programme”, “Yuva Vigyan Karyakram”, to provide basic knowledge on space technology, space science, and space applications to young students preferring rural areas.

The objective of this program is to create awareness among the youth about the emerging trends in science and technology, which are the building blocks of the future of our country. ISRO has prepared this program to “Catch Them Young”. The young scientist’s program is also expected to encourage more students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) based research/career.

YUVIKA – 2022 residential program will be of two weeks duration during summer vacations (16 to 28 May 2022) and the program will include invited talks, experience sharing by eminent scientists, experimental demonstrations, facility, and laboratory visits, special discussions sessions will be included. Practical and feedback sessions with experts.

Selection criteria YUVIKA 2022 Program

  • Marks obtained in the Class 8 Examination.
  • Participation in Science Fairs (Higher level organized by School/District/State and School/District/State/Central Government Authority) in the last three years.
  • Awards and equivalent in Olympiads/Science Competitions in the last three years (1 to 3 ranks at the School/District/State and above the level in the last 3 years).
  • Winners of sports competitions organized by Schools/Govt./Institutions/Registered Sports Federations (1st to 3rd rank in last 3 years at School/District/State and above level) in last three years.
  • Winners of online games will not be considered.
  • Membership of Scouts and Guides / NCC or NSS in the last three years.
  • Performance in an online quiz.
  • Special weightage will be given to the students studying in the schools located in the Panchayat area.

Minimum participation will be ensured from each State/UT. The program has been planned at five centers of ISRO such as Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, U.R. Rao Satellite Center (URSC), Bengaluru, Space Application Center (SAC), Ahmedabad, National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), Hyderabad and North-East Space Application Center (NE-SAC), Shillong.

At the end of the project, the students will be taken to visit the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The cost of travel of the student during the entire course (II AC fare by train from nearest railway station to reporting centre and back), course material, accommodation, boarding etc. will be borne by ISRO. AC-II train fare will also be provided to a parent/guardian to drop off and pick up the student from the reporting centre. If the student/parent has not availed of the II AC train, the reimbursement of fare will be limited to the II AC train fare.

Highlights of the Young Scientist Programme

  • It is a residential program of approximately two weeks (May 16-28, 2022).
  • The program aims to select 150 students from across the country, who are studying in class 9 by March 01, 2022, in a school located in the territory of India.
  • The registration for the program has started on the ISRO official web portal on 10 March 2022 and will happen on 10 April 2022 at 4.00 PM.

Registration for YUVIKA 2022

There is a total of four stages involved in the registration process of Yuvika – 2022. Applicants are advised to go through each step carefully. It is advised to complete the registration process at the earliest. The Applicants have to complete all four steps to complete the registration. Incomplete applications without attempting the YUVIKA 2022 quiz and uploading the certificates will not be considered.

Step 1: E-mail Registration for Young Scientist Programme Yuvika- 2022.

Step 2: Read the YUVIKA Quiz Instructions. Appear in an online quiz within 48 hours of e-mail registration for Yuvika – 2022.

Step 3: After 60 minutes of submitting the quiz, log in to the Yuvika portal and fill in all the information correctly. Submit the online application form and download the submitted form.

Step 4: Upload the signed copy and all the required certificates before the last date of YUVIKA registration.

All school heads are requested to spread the above information among the students and encourage them to participate in the YUVIKA 2022 program.
