In order to CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) Circular No. 33/05 dated 18.10.2005, Circular No. 50/10 dated 18.08.2010 and Circular No. 76/2011 dated 24.10.2011, Central Board of Secondary Education once again reiterates the importance of holistic education for all-round development of the students and support extended by co-scholastic activities like music, dance, and art to achieve the same.
It is the responsibility of the school and society, in general, to provide opportunities to the students to nurture and develop their innate creative talents. Performing arts and fine arts help students develop aesthetics, balance, and self-fulfillment, etc.
At the same time, in this rapidly changing globally connected world, it is important to strengthen cultural roots by preserving, promoting, and popularizing national heritage. The ideal way to do this is to encourage students to develop taste and interest in classical or folk music, dance, and art.
Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music & Culture amongst youth (SPIC MACAY) is providing services in this field for the last 44 years. It organizes classical or folk music, dance, crafts, arts & other cultural activities to inspire the students to appreciate the intrinsic value of our national heritage. It creates opportunities for students to enjoy performances and interactive sessions presented by renowned artists and artisans.
Keeping the above in view, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) suggests schools formally set up Culture and Heritage Clubs to undertake such activities. SPIC MACAY will expand its resources as knowledge partners for culture and heritage clubs in schools.
